Conservatorio di S. Stefano di Chiusi denominato La Pellegrina, dopo sei giorni di scavo, \u201calla profondit\u00e0 di 15 braccia\u201d [ca. m. 8,75, n.d.r.], Alessandro Fran\u00e7ois ed i suoi lavoranti portano alla luce una tomba dipinta oggi non pi\u00f9 visibile, la cui memoria \u00e8 affidata a due lettere che il noto archeologo fiorentino invi\u00f2 al proprio referente presso l\u2019Istituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica di Roma (probabilmente Emil Braun) il 7 febbraio e, due giorni dopo, al Conservatore dei Monumenti della Regia Galleria degli Uffizi, Prof. A. M. Migliarini.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Nella prima lettera \u00e8 contenuta la descrizione del sepolcro e di quanto ritrovatovi, nella seconda, pi\u00f9 sintetica, si precisa la data esatta del ritrovamento: appunto il 6 febbraio 1846.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>E\u2019 per\u00f2 il diplomatico inglese, appassionato viaggiatore e grande archeologo e scrittore, George Dennis, a darne per la prima volta una succinta notizia nella terza edizione del suo celebre Cities and Cemeteries of Etruria, nel 1883.
